If you describe someone asignorant, you mean that they do not know things they should know. If someone isignorant of a fact, they do not know it.

e.g. People don't like to ask questions for fear of appearingignorant...

ignorant，illiterate

这两个形容词均可表示“无知的”之意。

ignorant指一般的无知或指不知道某个具体的事。

illiterate指不识字的或没有文化的。
